In today's socially conscious market, businesses that effectively integrate social responsibility into their core strategies not only contribute to societal well-being but also build stronger, more resilient brands. This session will equip FSB members with the knowledge and tools needed to forge successful partnerships that drive both business and social impact.

This month we will be joined by guest speaker Ellen Finlay, Commissioner at The Equality Commission NI. Ellen will delve into how small businesses can leverage corporate-charity partnerships to strengthen their ESG/CSR strategies and increase their positive social impact. Drawing on her extensive policy expertise and success in forging collaborative partnerships, she will cover the fundamentals of building impactful collaborations, strategies for aligning social initiatives with business goals, and practical steps to launching successful partnerships. Using real-life case studies, Ellen will demonstrate how working with charities can enhance a business’s reputation, attract loyal customers, and contribute to long-term success.

With 25 years of experience in the community and voluntary sector, Ellen Finlay is deeply committed to advocating for social impact and policy influence. Originating from Tiger’s Bay, her firsthand experience with poverty fuels her dedication to fostering trust, equality, and inclusive decision-making. As the host of the Policy360 podcast, Ellen engages with key politicians and experts to explore how charity-business partnerships can improve outcomes for society.

She has secured significant legislative milestones, including the Children’s Services Co-operation Act and direct payments for Free School Meals recipients during lockdown. Currently serving as a Commissioner for the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland, Ellen’s expertise lies in connecting businesses with charities and fostering partnerships to drive positive change. Through strategic planning and collaboration, she empowers organisations to realise their potential and create sustainable social impact.
