Across Scotland thousands of retail businesses, cafes, pubs, takeaways, hairdressers, wholesale, and distribution centres lease their premises. But what happens as the lease is approaching its end date? How much time should the business have to find suitable alternative premises? Would they benefit from going to court to have the lease renewed for a year?
The Scottish Law Commission published its Discussion Paper on Aspects of Leases: Tenancy of Shops (Scotland) Act 1949. The 1949 Act is concerned with renewal of the leases of retail premises and it has been suggested that it has outlived its usefulness and that it can disrupt negotiations for renewal or future planning for the premises.
At this webinar, David Bartos, from the Scottish Law Commission will go through the key issues and options raised in the Paper. There will be an opportunity for questions and answers and general discussion of the Act, the Discussion Paper and how it may impact on your business.
This webinar is free and open to all.
