Join us for some fabulous face-to-face networking at our popular event. It's a great way to network, get advice and find new connections from across South Yorkshire.
This FSB in-person afternoon event is being supported by Costco and is the ideal opportunity to meet with local FSB members and small business owners, connect with your local FSB team, and chat with local business support providers to find out what’s available and what’s on the horizon.
The event includes:
- Speed networking rounds
- A mini expo (with local business support providers)
- A presentation from Costco on their business journey including sustainability commitments
- An afternoon tea buffet on arrival
- Ample free parking
- Networking in a relaxed atmosphere

How can Sheffield Hallam University support you and your business?
Find out about the range of opportunities you can access via our dedicated business support service. We can support your training and professional development through one of our funded leadership and skills development courses, or higher degree apprenticeship. We can also work with you on a funded research or knowledge transfer partnership, providing you with support from our world-class academics and students. Alternatively, we can help you to recruit a graduate, intern or placement student to support your business needs…plus much more!
The Department for International Trade (DIT):
As the department for economic growth DIT support businesses to invest, grow and export, creating jobs and opportunities across the country and internationally.
Duncan Hoyland will be with us at the event and works with stakeholders and partners to deliver export services across Northern England with The Department For Business & Trade. He is a former British diplomat, previously Head of Inward Investment with UK Trade & Investment, South Africa, Head of Trade in Kuwait, and other trade postings in Norway, and Mexico City. He leads diplomatic engagement to develop UK commercial opportunities.
Sheffield City Council/Business Sheffield:
Business Sheffield recognise that local businesses are central to Sheffield. They drive our economy, create opportunities for our people, and make us proud to live, work and visit here. Business Sheffield exist to help local businesses with anything they need to get established, grow and fulfil their full potential.
A part of Sheffield City Council, Business Sheffield provides tailored support to all kinds of businesses across the city. Based at Electric Works in the city centre, their expert Business Advisors provide strategic advice on anything from starting up, attracting investment and setting up your business processes to marketing, enhancing productivity and more. Their team of Business Information Officers visit High Street businesses across the city, proactively making sure they have the support they need. They run a monthly programme of free workshops on key business skills, helping you consolidate your knowledge, branch out or upskill your workforce. Business Sheffield connect businesses to funding opportunities, expert support from their partners and introducing you to exciting new things happening in the city, as well as providing the practical support you need to make the most of it all.
Need help in recruiting or staff training?
The Yorkshire Apprenticeship Service (YAS) will be here to assist your business in your training and recruiting needs. They are also will be able to guide you towards alternatives when apprenticeships are not an option. YAS specialise in the construction, engineering, manufacturing, and health & social care sectors and have a keen focus on digital skills and training. In collaboration with Yorkshire stakeholders, they are delivering a county-wide service to SMEs. The options are not always well known, so, YAS wants to be the voice for employers, stakeholders and recruits/staff. Working with the local authorities, job centres, local networks, colleges, training providers and schools to deliver the best service possible, they are here for the future of Yorkshire skills.
Business & IP Centre South Yorkshire
The Business & IP Centre South Yorkshire is part of a national network of BIPC’s, working in partnership with the British Library and other libraries across the UK. They support entrepreneurs and small businesses in South Yorkshire, with BIPC’s in Sheffield Central Library, Sheffield Crystal Peaks Library, Barnsley Library @ the Lightbox, Rotherham Riverside Library and Doncaster Central Library.
Intellectual Property: An understanding of Intellectual Property (IP) is vital to any business and the BIPC can help businesses protect their IP with information, support, and free one-to-one advice clinics with local IP Attorneys.
Business Information Databases: The BIPC provides free access to a range of high quality business information and market research databases at our centres, along with books and other information about starting up a business.
The event is open to freelancers, self-employed, and business owners from small and medium enterprises (SME’s), FSB members will be given priority of booking but non-members are welcome to register. Please feel free to share with you local networks - the more the merrier (and much more fun for the speed networking we have in store!).
