Our expert panel will explain how employing an apprentice can help to grow your business and build skills in your team. They will explain the financial support available as well as navigating you through the apprenticeship journey. From the different types of apprenticeship frameworks available to off-the-job training requirements, you’ll leave this session with the knowledge you need to hire an apprentice as a small business.
We’ll also be joined by small business owners and FSB members who will share their own experience of apprenticeships and the value it brings to their business. They’ll offer advice to give you the confidence to explore apprenticeships opportunities.
This event is for all employers or managers considering employing an apprentice.
Speakers
- Elizabeth Flegg – Elizabeth is the Chair for the South East Apprenticeship Ambassador Network; who are a group of volunteers who are passionate about the positive impact apprenticeships bring.
- Becky Toal - MD and Founder of Crowberry Consulting Ltd. Enabling Sustainable Futures is a sustainability consultancy based in Chorley, Lancashire. Becky has and continues to employ apprentices across all ranges since 2012.
- Michael Ramlakhan - Managing Director and founder of Timeless IMS, who help businesses and senior business professionals embrace managed technology solutions. Michael has employed a number of apprentices and continues to do so over a number of years. He also works closely with The Association of Learning Providers Surrey (ALPS) offering advice.
- Anthony Impey MBE - Anthony is Chief Executive of Be the Business - a not-for-profit that brings together companies - big and small - to improve small business productivity. He is also founder and co-chair of the FSB’s Big Ideas Group, chair of the City & Guilds Industry Skills Board and leads the Department of Education’s Apprenticeship Ambassador Network which represents over 1,500 employers nationwide.
- Hollie Whittles - Hollie Whittles is an award winning TEDx speaker, author and Director of two digital companies. Spending more than 7000 hours speaking to audiences across the UK, she has helped hundreds of business owners to grow their businesses. Hollie is also the national policy skills champion for the FSB and will be hosting the event.
