Discussion with industry experts about the future of sustainable construction in Cornwall.

Come and listen to industry experts Charlie Luxton, from More 4s ‘Building the Dream’, Mark Southgate from MOBIE, APG Architects, Taylor Lewis Construction, Cornwall Council and join the debate.

Charlie Luxton is a renowned architectural designer but is most known for his presenting career, most recently on More 4’s show ‘Building The Dream’. Alongside his architectural interests, Charlie has a passion for sustainability and the environment. This is depicted through his design work, as he regularly creates eco-friendly designs.

Mark Southgate is CEO of MOBIE, the Ministry of Building and Education. Architect and TV Presenter George Clarke founded MOBIE in 2017 to inspire young people to revolutionise the way we think about homes. We need younger generations to define how they want to live now and in the future, and MOBIE helps them do it. As part of SCAPs work to understand how best to engage the next generation through innovative educational outreach Mark will outline the work of his charity.

Adam Parsons is Director of APG Architecture and Abigail Portus is project lead of the newly completed Retrofit Academy at Exeter College and they will present their findings from this project and how we may achieve something similar here at Truro & Penwith College.

Jenni Stopford & Emily Rubin are both heavily involved in Cornwall Council's decarbonisation plans for their housing stock and will deliver an overview of their work and the Council's plan.

Build Greener is hosted by Cornwall’s Sustainable Construction Advisory Panel – SCAP, which was established to act as a regional steering group to advise, influence and steer sustainable construction, training, development and education in the region. Join SCAP at Build Greener on 16th November for lively informed debate, special guest speakers, networking, food and beverages.

The Build Greener event will be an opportunity to learn, network and develop your interests and knowledge in this area of decarbonising houses and to hear about Truro & Penwith College's hard work in this area.

This event is an open meeting free for all to attend, and is available both in person and online.

On-site parking is available from 4.30pm. Please note that the College’s ANPR Parking System will be in operation and issuing fines to unregistered vehicles. Any visitors arriving by car and parking at the College must register their car with reception to avoid receiving a fine.
