Events coming up this month: 

6 July 2023 11am-12noon - Somerset and North Somerset Virtual Networking, where Marie Howard from Skill Up Somerset will be our ten minute speaker discussing how their free advice service can help you to find the right skills support for your business. 

12 July 2023 10:30-11:30am - South West Women in Business, a friendly regular networking session aimed at women in business in the South West (Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Bristol and Bath) but open to all. Louisa Willcox, Money Strategist, will be discussing what you need to know about business finances when you are a sole trader and the benefits/disadvantages of going limited. 

20 July 2023 11am-12noon - Swindon and Wiltshire Virtual Networking, where Chris Emberson from Innovation Mapping will be our speaker this month. 

There are also a number of National networking events which are available to browse here. Ruth, Development Manager for Somerset and Wiltshire, holds the National Engineering, Manufacturing and Transport Virtual Networking - if you work in or with these sectors then come along! 


    

What you might have missed in June: 
Ruth is always on the lookout for business support opportunities, hints, tips, best practice, networking, and ways to help you make the most of your FSB membership. Keep an eye out for articles that come out regularly on the South West regional page to stay informed of what's happening in your area! 

June's Top Tips to Staying Safe Online: Each month we partner with the South West Cyber Resilience Centre (SWCRC) to bring you details of the top three latest threats or issues that you should be aware of to protect your small business.

Creative Business Support: If you work in the creative sector then this Arts Council England funded programme designed to help creative businesses that are looking to grow may be of interest to you.

New South West Business Awards: Deadline to enter is 7 July.

Ruth has also been on a visit this month to Clevedon, for the Explore North Somerset event - to find out more about what Ruth's doing out and about across the area, connect with her on LinkedIn.

Somerset and North Somerset:

Tech Leader's Summit: Entrepreneurs, leaders and business specialists are gathering at Somerset County Cricket Club on Wednesday 5 July to share success stories, challenges and experiences so that you can gain actionable insights.

North Somerset Rural Fund: North Somerset Council are launching a new rural grant programme for capital projects that will benefit rural businesses and communities.

Hinkley Supply Chain Opportunities: There are still plenty more contracts for local businesses to bid for.

Somer Valley Links Survey: West of England Combined Authority are consulting on transport plans along the A37, A362 and the A367.

Swindon and Wiltshire

Solar Together: If you have considered purchasing solar panels but been put off by the cost then this scheme running for a second time in Swindon and Wiltshire Council areas may be of interest.

We are searching for new South West FSB Membership recruits: If you know someone who may be looking for a new role, which gives them the chance to be their own boss while helping to support fellow small business owners and the self-employed to get the support and practical help they need, please forward this on to them.
