Regulatory reform and the British Columbia model

This short position paper outlines the details of what has become known as the British Columbia (BC) ‘model’, which was (indeed, remains) an innovative approach to improving the regulatory environment for businesses in BC. It is the only successful attempt in any OECD country to significantly and consistently improve the regulatory environment for business.1 As a result, it has contributed to a significant improvement in the economic performance of BC since being instigated.
