FSB and Mail Metro Media give struggling small businesses access to a £3m free advertising fund

Press Releases 10 May 2020

Mail Metro Media has joined forces with the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) to give small firms struggling in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic free advertising.

Small business owners face a long road ahead as they try to rebuild themselves following the lockdown, but from Wednesday, they will be eligible to apply for £3,000 worth of advertising to use across the news group’s print and online titles.

The advertising fund will give 1,000 selected small businesses access to print advertising in the Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, Metro and The i, which will be supported further with online adverts running across MailOnline and Metro.co.uk.

The successful applicants will be matched up to a dedicated, local account manager from Mail Metro Media for full support.

FSB National Chair Mike Cherry said: “We’re delighted to join forces with Mail Metro Media on this, and we know our members will be hugely grateful for this generous offer of support.

“The Covid-19 pandemic is going to have an impact on businesses for months, if not years, to come, and they now face a difficult future as they try to navigate through these challenging, unprecedented times.

“They will now need to think outside the box to attract new customers and take on a more proactive approach when it comes to marketing products and services. However, there can be a cost associated with this, leaving many small businesses with nowhere to turn.

“That’s why we’re grateful to see Mail Metro Media coming up with such an important, free initiative.

“Small businesses and the self-employed are at the heart of their communities and the backbone of our economy. Jobs and economic recovery depend on them being able to pull through this crisis and drive growth and innovation beyond it.”

Martin Smith, Mail Metro Media’s executive director of Direct Sales, said: “Businesses are facing the toughest challenges imaginable and we are committed to supporting them as best we can.

“As a company, we match our words with action, which is why we are providing £3m of free advertising for hundreds of SMEs, who are so vital to this country’s economy.”

Small businesses which would like to apply can do so from Wednesday 13 May by going to fsb.org.uk
