The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) in Scotland has today launched its biggest ever small business research project, the Big Small Business Survey.
The aim is to gather a comprehensive picture of the concerns and challenges facing the country’s small businesses, which make up the overwhelming majority of enterprises (98%) in Scotland. Small business owners are invited to complete a questionnaire covering current trading conditions, their ambitions for the future and the barriers they see to growth.
Stacey Dingwall, FSB Scotland’s Head of Policy and External Affairs, said: “These are extremely challenging times for small businesses as they look to weather the current economic storms and put in place plans for future growth.
“With so much focus right now rightly on the importance of driving economic growth, it is more important than ever for decision-makers at all levels to have a thorough understanding of Scotland’s small businesses, their aspirations and challenges.
“The Big Small Business Survey will allow us to build an ever deeper understanding of all the biggest day to day issues which affect Scottish small enterprises, what is helping and what is holding them back. The results will help ensure the work of FSB Scotland in representing the interests of the country’s small businesses to all levels of government remains effective and evidence-led.
“We are keen to hear from as many SMEs as possible and the survey takes no more than 20 minutes to complete. Doing so will help ensure the country’s small businesses continue to have a big voice in Scotland.”
