Responding to the appointment of Jo Stevens MP as the new Secretary of State for Wales, Policy Chair of the Federation of Small Businesses in Wales (FSB), Ben Francis, said:
“I would like to congratulate the new Secretary of State for Wales on her appointment and to welcome the UK Government’s commitment to delivering economic stability and driving economic prosperity.
“Small businesses have navigated an extended period of difficult economic headwinds. Now, there is an opportunity to chart a clear course towards economic prosperity.
“The upcoming King’s speech is an opportunity to deliver a Small Business Bill which puts in place measures to tackle poor payment practices by big businesses to their smaller suppliers and to improve small businesses’ ability to access finance.
“Now is also the time for a new constructive partnership between the UK Government and the Welsh Government, with a shared mission of building a thriving and diverse Welsh economy.
“FSB Wales is looking forward to working with the Secretary of State to ensure the voice of Wales’ small businesses is heard, to empower entrepreneurs and to create the right conditions for growth, now and in the future.”
