For Starters…
Here’s a picture of my dog, Oakley, who had a great hair cut by Avril at Pampered Padss in September!
Moving on…
Back to business, September was also the month I received an invite to give evidence to the Scottish Government’s Economy and Fair Work Committee. They’re looking at how a just transition to net zero in the North East and Moray can be supported in a way that benefits both companies and individuals. Two months to prep for that one, thankfully!
Other than that, here are some other monthly highlights:
Shouting about FSB Members
This was another great month featuring interesting people in my Small Business Focus articles in the Press and Journal.
- Kevin Dundas, of Framing Point in Aberdeen, told me his phone was red-hot and he already had one new customer following his Small Business Focus promotion. Kevin’s done a great job relocating and putting his own twist on what was his parents’ business.
- My feature on Ronnie Gillespie Auto Repairs near Elgin, Moray, is one of my most successful Facebook posts of the year, getting 17 shares and over 2,800 interactions! I’m not sure if the attraction was Ronnie or his son, Martin, but the local community certainly wanted to celebrate their family business success.
In-person Networking in Alford
Chloe’s Kitchen Creations was the venue for our Alford In-person Networking, and what a fantastic event it was, attracting business owners from Inverurie, Aberdeen and beyond. Here’s a short video clip of the event. Chloe has her own regular networking events planned, kicking off on Thursday 5th October. Our next FSB in-person networking is in Hopeman and Aboyne.
FSB in the Media
I hosted Financial Times Scotland correspondent, Lukanyo Mnyanda, in Keith at the start of the month. Lukanyo was contributing to a wider article looking at Scottish inward investment and was interested in the long-term employment benefits of offshore wind and the power grid infrastructure improvements in Moray.
I set up an interview with local FSB member Robbie Martin, Ugie House Hotel, and whilst wandering up Mid Street we bumped into Joan from J & E Kleaning Services. Lukanyo really appreciated the business views and opinions from these FSB members, and we look forward to the final article being published.
