Local businesses urged to support initiative to help Gloucestershire charity

Have you got an old mobile phone lying unused in a draw at home or in your office? If so a new Gloucestershire business-led campaign to recycle the mobiles to raise money for a county charity has been launched.

Lister Communications and Punchline Gloucester are spearheading the campaign which will see the phones that you no longer needed recycled for the many valuable parts within them with all the proceeds going to Stroud based charity The Nelson Trust who help those with a variety of addictions or major life disadvantages (see here for more info).

The phone is particularly symbolic in this campaign because the charity helps a lot of women in crisis and as Nelson Trust's Andy Jarrett explained phones are a lifeline that are often denied to those who need them.

"Shockingly, a significant number of women have their phones taken away from them as a means of control in manipulative relationships. This campaign therefore not only helps reduce landfill waste but also plays a vital role in raising much-needed funds to support women in crisis and individuals battling addiction and multiple complex challenges.”

The campaign was launched this week at the The Growth Hub in Gloucester with the first of the special BiGDUG recycling bins installed at Gloucester and over this week and next, other BiGBUG recycling bins will be placed at the Growth Hubs across the county including: Stroud, Cirencester, Cheltenham, Tewkesbury and the ForestofDean.

You can stay up to date with the campaign by visiting here and to have your box of used mobile phones picked up, email Andy Jarrett. And if you think your company could host a bin for drop offs just let Andy/Mark know....

Good luck to everyone involved in this Gloucestershire business charity event.
