Be The First to Get Involved with the Next LSIP Research Round

FSB Lincolnshire has been leading the Local Skills Improvement Plan on behalf of the Department of Education since Autumn 2022. Now, as we head into the final year of delivering our plan to changing the landscape of local skills provision with businesses at its heart, we need you to get back involved.

From September we will reopen our research across Greater Lincolnshire & Rutland to get your updated views on the skills your business needs from the local workforce. We also need to sense check if you’re aware of the wide range of work we’re leading to make the changes local employers asked for.

You can not only attend the launch of the Autumn surveys at our next LSIP Quarterly Forum in Grimsby on 26 September, but also be among the very first to take part in the research round. Be there to get the full update and to influence what happens next on the journey towards upskilling Lincolnshire’s Workforce. The morning session includes refreshments and lunch at the end.

Start Small, Dream Big

The Greater Lincolnshire LEP is delivering a DfE pilot programme called Start Small; Dream Big. This is a programme to support local primary settings to develop their knowledge of skills, jobs and careers related learning. The LEP’s Careers Hub Team are currently in the middle of hosting events that will bring the schools together to share best practice and to hear from organisations also supporting this agenda – and the team are keen to have a wide range of Lincolnshire’s employers involved in the sessions.

Two have already taken place in Sleaford and Grimsby, but next available date is coming up on 15 July at Hemswell Court between 10am and midday. If you’d like to find out more and be there to help bridge links between education and business, you can book your free place now here.

Anglian Water has begun a second phase of non-statutory consultation for a proposed new reservoir near Sleaford.

The consultation focuses the emerging design for the main reservoir site, early stage proposals for the surrounding area, and associated water infrastructure issues.

The consultation is open until 11.59pm on 9 August 2024. As a local business leader, it is well worthwhile you sharing your views before this stage concludes, especially if you live close to the proposed reservoir site or your business is likely to be affected in any way.

All phase two consultation materials can be accessed via the project website.

Help Cash Access UK understand the cash needs of small businesses

Cash Access UK is a not-for-profit company who provide cash and basic banking services in communities across the UK. These include shared Banking Hubs and deposit services. In order to support businesses to continue to accept cash from their customers who rely on it, Cash Access UK have commenced a trial of multi-bank deposit taking ATMs, designed to enable small businesses to pay in cash to their account at a time and location convenient to them.

The new machines are accessible during extended opening hours and enable customers to pay in up to 100 notes / £5000 per transaction, with customers able to undertake multiple transactions if required. Initially the service is available to customers of Barclays, NatWest, Lloyds, Royal Bank of Scotland, Ulster Bank, Halifax and the Bank of Scotland.  Additional banks will enable the service in the coming months and CAUK is also looking to develop a coin deposit facility to expand the service before the end of the year. The service is free to use, subject to any service charges already in place between customers and their bank, and we are pleased to confirm that a machine has been installed here in Lincolnshire in Bourne at McColls 10 West St. We realise this might not be within travelling distance to all but if successful more are planned across the UK.

If you use the new deposit ATM Cash Access UK are keen to hear how the service was for you. Please email them with feedback on your experience [email protected]

They would also like to hear from FSB members to help them to better understand the cash needs of small businesses by completing this short survey.
