In summary

June saw our annual FSB North Wales Small Business Conference in the iconic Prichard Jones Hall at Bangor University.  It was great to welcome over 120 delegates for a day packed with information about financial wellbeing, funding for business and utilising Artificial Intelligence in a small business context.  We are already planning next year’s event! In July we will again be hosting virtual and in-person events in North Wales, so please do come along if you can.

FSB North Wales Business Breakfast

Our regular in-person networking events in North Wales are back with our North Wales Business Breakfasts. The next one is taking place on Tuesday 9 July, from 9.30am - 11am, where this month we return to Busnes@LlandrilloMenai in Bangor. This monthly networking meet-up offers a prime opportunity to forge meaningful business connections, in a professional environment. Come and network, collaborate, promote your services and support each other. Open to all, both FSB members and non-members.

Net Zero North Wales Networking Event

The Net Zero North Wales Network will bring together key businesses from across the North Wales private sector along with business representative bodies, not for profit organisations and universities/colleges. The event, held on Wednesday 10 July, 12.30pm - 3.30pm at Venue Cymru, aims to share best practice and advice across business sectors, highlighting the support and services available from public sector bodies and others, from local, regional and national Wales/UK levels. Expo attendees and speakers include FSB, Ynni Ogwen, Penderyn Distillery, Ambition North Wales, Development Bank of Wales, Business Wales, Bangor University and many more.

Flintshire Fund - Tender Readiness Workshop

The Flintshire Fund is holding a joint tendering event with Flintshire County Council and Business Wales on Thursday 11 July at Deeside College, Connah’s Quay. The workshop aims to help businesses better understand what councils are looking for from their suppliers, and to give further insight into future opportunities. It will also cover the key considerations when writing a tender and how to get the best chances of success, with a focus on the new regulations coming in from October 2024, including the need for a Carbon Reduction Plan in some cases.

Help Cash Access UK understand the cash needs of small businesses 

Cash Access UK is a not-for-profit company who provide cash and basic banking services in communities across the UK. These include shared Banking Hubs and deposit services including a number of new deposit machines ATM machines which are designed to enable bank customers to pay in cash local to them. Please help them to better understand the cash needs of small businesses by completing this short survey.

Workforce Skills Improvement Grant - Gwaith Gwynedd

Do you have employees who need to upskill but potentially face obstacles? Cyngor Gwynedd are keen to help businesses upskill their employees by enabling them to free up their employee’s time to train. The Workforce Skills Improvement Grant will award up to £3,000 per business to enable training for employees who are currently trained to level 1 and 2, in entry-level positions or in work poverty. The grant can cover training, travel costs, the cost of funding another person to do the work of the employee being trained and other associated costs. The fund is provided through the Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF) and all applications must be completed by September 2024.
