Somer Valley Links consultation

Local News 30 Jun 2023

Help shape plans for transport in the Somer Valley along the A37, A362 and the A367.

The West of England Combined Authority has secured more than £½ billion funding from central government to tackle key transport challenges in the region. Past consultation has led to the development of four projects designed to bring real, practical benefits to people who live, work and visit the area, with the hope of improving traffic and increasing investment.

The first project being consulted on is for the Somer Valley area, between Midsomer Norton, Westfield, Radstock and Bath/Bristol along the A37, A362 and A367.

In the first stage of the “Somer Valley Links” project in late 2021, residents shared concerns and views about transport locally - with one of the top priorities being the need to make improvements to cycling and walking. 70% rated safety along the route as poor.

This feedback has helped the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority to develop these preliminary proposals in partnership with Bath & North East Somerset Council, which are being presented in this six-week consultation. The proposals need input from people who live and work in the area, to find out if they have got it right or where may need further work.

The consultation has just opened and is running for six weeks, closing 6 August.
