The strength of FSB is in the way it works so closely with its members to understand how they tick and what their current challenges are. We use this information to inform the benefits that we offer and the lobbying work we do both nationally and locally. As a very lean organisation staff-wise we rely on local volunteers to get involved with topical issues and to help to gather and collate member views.

Our two Area Lead volunteers are John Mayer for Somerset and North Somerset and Angela Atkinson for Swindon and Wiltshire. They get involved in hosting our regular monthly networking events and in attending meetings with local councils and MPs. We also have Charles Hansard, a Somerset member, hosting our national networking group for engineering, manufacturing and transport businesses.
