Hospitality and tourism is a key sector for the employment of women, and is a more popular sector than most for women to set up their own business. According to the latest FSB research, 31% of small businesses are owned by women, rising to 41% of FSB small businesses in the hospitality and tourism sector. FSB research also found that 87% of small hospitality and tourism businesses employ a woman, compared with 81% of all FSB small employers.
This webinar highlights key findings from FSB’s report A Menu for Recovery, and discuss why the sector appeals to women entrepreneurs to set up their business, but also what more could be done to help women in growing their businesses. It will examine what support would be required, and look at whether there are lessons for other sectors, as well as for larger businesses – where we still don’t have enough women in leadership positions.
